Feels So Good

love, actually is all around....

Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."

Love, like rain, can nourish from above, drenching couples with a soaking joy. But sometimes, under the angry heat of life, love dries on the surface and must nourish from below, tending to its roots, keeping itself alive.

What do the terms "soulmate" and "your significant other" stand for, if that "special someone" is just there to keep you company when you feel lonely, or when you have nothing better to do?..

Are classic literatures and stories of love facricated by lovelorn & crazy authors?..  Are they realistic?

Is that heart-pondering /butterfly-fluttering chemistry between two people nowhere to be found in contemporary times?

Do you need to be a hopeless romantic to feel all the feelings for love? Are there still hopeless romantics out there?..

What about marriage/relationships then?.. Do people go into marriages thinking that 'Oh, we can always divorce if things don't work out'?..

What happened to the vows that you take, or specifically, the part that says "till death do us part"? Are promises really meant to be broken? Is it true that most people have emotionally cheated on their partners if not physically? Is it impossible to stay faithful to one person?

I have broken promises before... and I'm not proud of it...

For all I know, I still believe in that head over heel, sweet & simple, good 'ole fashioned kind of love, still exists. It may be true that only a few fortunate ones can proudly say that they have experienced it, but that's what makes true love so special, isn't it? It's not something you can randomly pick up on the street, or get from a vending machine. That's why the word 'love' should not be said /taken so lightly...

Call me stubborn or stupid, or whatever adjectives you can conjure up with, but I am holding on to my beliefs until proven otherwise... God will never prove me wrong in this...

I am proud to say that I'm one of the few fortunate ones... used to be, still am, always will be...

Salty Coffee

He met her in a party, she was the most beautiful girl he has ever seen... all the handsome guys were chasing after her.... but he was so normal... nobody paid attention to him.

At the end of the party, he garnered enough courage to ask the girl out for coffee. And she was so surprised, but as he was polite & gentlemanly, she agreed to meet up with him.

They sat in a nice coffee shop, but he was too nervous to say anything... she thus felt very uncomfortable, and she told him that she wanted to go home....

Suddenly, he asked the waiter: "Can you please pass me some salt? I'd like to put it in my coffee."

Everybody stared at him... whispers can be heard all around the coffee house "What a strange guy...."

She asked him curiously, "Why do you have such a habit?"

He replied, "When I was a little boy, I lived by the sea... I liked playing in the sea, and so I could taste the salt from the seawater... just like the taste of the salty coffee. Now, everytime I drink a cup of salty coffee, I always think of my childhood, think of my hometown... I miss my home so much... I miss my parents so much....."

While saying that, tears filled his eyes. At the same time, She was deeply touched. She could see his true feelings, which were from the bottom of his heart. She thought to herself, "he must be a man who loves home, cares about home and has a responsibility of home..." Then she also started to talk about her hometown, her childhood and her family...

They continued to date and she found out that he was actually a man who met all her demands; he was tolerant, has a kind heart, warm..... he was such a good man and she almost missed him on that party back then! But thanks to his salty coffee, the story was just like a beautiful love story: the prine married the princess and lived happily every after...

And, everytime she made coffee for him, she'll put some salt in the coffee as she knew that that's the way he liked it to be....

After 50 yrs, he passed away, leaving her a note which said:

"My dearest, pls forgive me, forgive my whole life's lie. This was the only lie I've said to you... the salty coffee. Remember the first time we dated? I was so nervous at that time, actually I meant to get sugar, but I said salt. It was hard for me to change so I just went ahead. I never thought that that could be the start of our conversation! I tried to tell you the truth many times in my life, but I was too afraid to do that, as I had promised you that I'll never lie to you. Now that I'm gone, I'll tell you the truth... I don't like salty coffee... it tasted so weird! But I've had the salty coffee my whole life since I've known you.... Having you with me is the biggest happiness of my whole life. If I can live for the second time, I'd still want to know you, and have you again... even if I have to drink salty coffee again... I love you..."

She wept...

On days, people who knew her would ask her: "What's the taste of salty coffee like?"

"It's sweet," she replied.

"Holding anger is a poison. It eats you from inside. We think that by hating someone we hurt them, but hatred is a curved blade, and the harm we do to others we also do to ourselves."
